Ron spent his childhood interacting with animals on the family's farm in Iowa. After moving to Southern California in 1968, Ron trained several family dogs under the direction of William Koehler, former head trainer at Disney Studios. He later showed dogs where he was recognized as a top competitor at the national level. Ron assisted other trainers for years before establishing his own highly successful program in 1985. He is recognized by breed rescue organizations and veterinarians for his expertise at rehabilitating problem animals and providing obedience training that really gets results.

Ron lives on a ranch near Paso Robles and travels to Southern California weekly to help owners from Los Angeles, Ventura, Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo Counties with their dogs. His hobby is training horses. Ron believes in simple proper communication and that overpowering an animal is completely unnecessary. His motto is "Training your dog is an investment in a life of joy."
